After Kevin Hart faced scrutiny over his son’s cowboys and Indians–themed birthday party last week, he’s remaining firm in his defense of the gathering.
Hart’s wife, Eniko Parrish, posted a photo on Instagram Thursday, Nov. 22, thanking everyone for attending Kenzo’s first birthday party.
Fans swiftly slammed the comedian for the celebration.
“Cowboys and Indians? Can you not afford a publicist who would explain the reality [of] such a terrible idea?”
“Obviously not thinking. … I guess if you have money it’s alright to be stupid and insensitive.”
Hart addressed the criticism head-on during his SiriusXM show, “Straight from the Hart,” on Wednesday and he didn’t apologize for the theme in the slightest. After pointing out that the hubbub emerged on the same day the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins were playing — Thanksgiving Day — he went in.
“The reason why I’m even bringing this dumb s— up is because it shows just how stupid our world is becoming with opinion,” Hart said on Nov. 28. “People are at a point of an all-time high. To throw racial judgment into the development of a 1-year-old’s birthday party where the theme is cowboys and Indians? And it’s based around the outfits that are given to the young kids!”
One co-hosts posits if someone threw a slave owner and enslaved African party, which didn’t faze Hart.
“If you don’t think there’s neighborhoods where they play that game in certain white neighborhoods, then you’re a f–king idiot,” he shot back. “You don’t think they had dumbass games like that? As a kid, do we play cops and robbers? As a kid, did you play cowboys and Indians? … When you were a child, if you go to stores, right, if you go to look at paraphernalia. To be a cowboy, you’re buying boots, you’re buying a gun, you’re buying a hat. Some of ’em had the lasso. “As a kid, when you played these games, it was based off of the premise from a hypothetical place that was put into perception for movies,” he adds. “What I’m saying is this isn’t something that just started. This isn’t a racial slur that people are doing or being malicious with. This is a game that’s been played for years. I’m about to be 40 years old. I remember at the age of 6, 7, playing these dumbass games. I remember playing cops and robbers.”ncG1vNJzZmiZpKGur8DAm6Oam5uowaK%2BjZympmdiZX55e5BqZmtxX6Cyt7XNZp%2BaqqRisaq%2FzKKqrJ2jYrCztdOimqKrnWK8p3nSqKWsZZOkxKO72KxkmqaUYravsMiapaxlpJ2yrrHDZpmiqqSdsaLFjKmYq6ypYsGptdJmoKympGKubr7AnKCapF2ouba%2Bjg%3D%3D
